Behind the Scenes

This short film was made by Lighthouse Young Creatives (LYC). Lighthouse is an arts charity that supports 16-25 year olds from underrepresented backgrounds in Brighton and Hove to help them develop a career in the creative and digital industries.

CFI's Callum Johnston conducted film workshops with the group, teaching them essential techniques in script writing, acting, and producing. This hands-on experience culminated in the creation of their own short film titled 'Homegrown.'

During the casting process, the Young Creatives discovered some amazing local talent, including Jake, a member of the LYC program. He played a key role in developing the script and story, and chose to make his acting debut as the lead character, 'Kyle.'

The group received mentorship from the CFI ACADEMY team throughout both the production and post-production stages, gaining valuable on-set experience and editing skills.
